Eligibility for a Visitor Visa

To qualify for a visitor visa, you must meet certain fundamental requirements.

You must:
– Possess a valid travel document, such as a passport.
– Be in good health.
– Have no criminal or immigration-related convictions.
– Demonstrate to an immigration officer that you have strong ties to your home country—such as employment, a home, financial assets, or family—that will ensure your return.
– Convince an immigration officer that you intend to leave Canada at the end of your visit.
– Have sufficient funds to support your stay.

The required amount of funds will depend on the length of your visit and whether you’ll be staying in a hotel or with friends or family.

In some cases, you may also need to undergo a medical examination and provide a letter of invitation from someone residing in Canada.

Parent and Grandparent Super Visa

A Super Visa allows parents and grandparents to visit their children or grandchildren in Canada for up to 5 years per stay, with multiple entries permitted over a period of up to 10 years. This visa has specific requirements, including the need for comprehensive health insurance.

To qualify as a Super Visa holder, you must:
– Maintain or renew your health insurance: Ensure your insurance remains valid throughout your stay in Canada and upon re-entry.
– Keep your passport valid: Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Canada.

Super Visa Eligibility:

To qualify for a Super Visa, your host must meet specific criteria:
– Relationship: Your host must be your child or grandchild.
– Status in Canada: The host must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or registered Indian, and provide a copy of one of the following documents:
– Their Canadian citizenship document (and their spouse’s or common-law partner’s, if applicable).
– Their permanent resident document (and their spouse’s or common-law partner’s, if applicable).
– A Secure Certificate of Indian Status or Certificate of Indian Status (status card).
– Age and Residency: The host must be at least 18 years old and reside in Canada.
– Income Requirement: The host must meet or exceed the minimum necessary income.
– Invitation Letter: The host must provide a letter inviting you to Canada, which includes:
– A commitment of financial support for the duration of your visit.
– A list, with names and dates of birth, of all individuals included in the family size calculation to verify the income requirement.

Your child or grandchild’s spouse or common-law partner may co-sign the invitation letter if they are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. To determine if the minimum income requirement is met, use the following income guidelines:
